Planning Cherry Blossom Travel in Japan for 2027

Start planning now for your trip to see Sakura – the flowering cherry blossoms that blanket Japan each spring. Reservations for 2027 tours are available beginning August 16, 2026. It is one of the busiest times of the year to visit Japan, so early preparation is essential.
We are blessed with local reminders. Just a few miles from our office in Dublin, California, there are three groves of flowering cherry trees in Dougherty Valley. Each spring they are filled with photographers and picnickers.
This spring, a week-long stretch of heat in February led to early flowering. “That splash of pink color is a great reminder of how fast the season comes and goes” said Chris Huseby, Managing Director.
Just the opposite occurred in Japan this year! Early predictions were for another very early cherry blossom season, but two weeks of cool wintry weather pushed back the blossoms. Blossoms appeared March 19 with peak bloom in the Tokyo area March 27. We were well prepared as our guides and tour coordinator professionals monitored and tracked blossom status at each of their favorite viewing spots.
“While it is a busy time to travel, the magic and excitement of spring brings a special kind of energy to your tour” added Gary Lane, Managing Director.
